OUR SMART GOAL

Did you know George Street Middle School has been working towards a school-wide improvement plan via our SMART goals?

Smart goals are Strategic Measurable Attainable Results-Based Time Bound. Our goal is based set for three years:

At George Street Middle our SMART goal is:

80% of George Street Students will be proficient writers at their grade level within 3 years.
Year 1 – 49% to 55% successful
Year 2 – 55% to 67% successful
Year 3 – 67% to 80% successful

We expect all teachers to evaluate several forms of writing. Thus, it is possible that your child will be evaluated (for writing) in many of their classes.

Stay tune for more updates!

Positive Pool Party --- December 3rd

50 students have been selected to attend the Positive Pool Party in Saint John on December 3rd. Students selected were first nominated for good deeds they performed voluntarily. Examples of some of the Positive Acts include:

- Helping another student with their books after-school.

- Giving part of their lunch to a student who had no lunch that day.

- Went and got a lunch basket for a fellow student who had forgotten it --- when asked why you did it --- reply "I did not want the studnet to have to back to get it".

- Taking free time (Lunch options) to finish class wreath.

For students who are participating --- here is some helpful information:

The Tim Horton bus will be here at 8:00 am to transport us to Saint John. We plan to be back to school by 2:30 pm.

There is no food allowed on the bus, so please be sure to have a hearty breakfast. We won’t be able to have a snack until we arrive in Saint John at 9:30 am. We need to be changed and ready for the pool at 10 – 11:30 am. Everyone will change and be ready for lunch in the food court at 12. We plan to be ready to board the bus at 1:00 pm.

The washroom on the bus is open for emergencies only, so please make sure you use the washroom at school before we leave.

Be courteous and respectful to the bus driver. Be sure to thank him when you leave.

Although the bus is free for our use, there is a donation box on the bus to support Tim Horton Camps for underprivileged kids. If you have some loose change at home, you might want to bring it and make a contribution.

We will give you $5.00 towards your lunch and you will need to pay the rest.
